Emotional development for children:
The connection between our body and our emotions has been recognised in the Orient for thousands of years where martial arts were recognised as a powerful method of personal development. In the west, pioneering psychologists such as Reich and Lowen have shown that body work is an effective way of influencing and healing the psyche.
Whilst adults can focus on releasing physical tensions or "body armouring" that are manifestations of unrecognised issues, our training for children encourages them to develop a strong core and allow that power to coordinate throughout the body.
When children have a healthy relationship with their body they are able to access their full strength, their posture expresses confidence and they are alert and present. These qualities are encouraged by both the physical nature of our training and our supportive environment which emphasises empathy, encouragement & enthusiasm.
