Integrating Enthusiasm & Discipline

enthusiasm disciplineHappy, secure and enthusiastic students learn at an accelerated pace. Our classes set a firm teaching framework but our exercises are enjoyable and taught with enthusiasm and encouragement; so by engaging in class children learn to manage and control their natural exuberance and develop self discipline.

On the other hand some exercises allow children enormous discipline freedom to express their enthusiasm. These types of exercises are one of the few ways children in urban environments are able to exercise their full strength and energy and this is of course enormously enjoyable for them. The class structure ensures that this is always safe.

Every class begins formally with quiet sitting (in Japanese Seiza & Mokso) which sets the atmosphere for the class. Sitting still for young children is a very challenging discipline and it is a powerful experience for them to struggle with this difficulty and then realise the self control they are capable of.
