Why don't you use the traditional white uniform?

After teaching hundreds of children it became apparent that the tradition gi was distracting young students. The difficulty of keeping the belt fastened and the top closed was undermining student's concentration and enjoyment.

Eventually a headmistress asked us to simplify our uniform because so many belts, draw cords and tops were left behind.

We simplified our uniform which is much easier for children to manage and we denote gradings with with badges rather than coloured belts.

Do children ever get hurt in class?

Martial arts training is a very physical activity and there is the occasional bruise or cut lip. Our training environment and exercises focus on safety and we are very pleased to have never had any serious injury of any kind.

Can I watch my child train?

Yes. We strongly encourage parents to view classes, however we ask you not to engage in anyway with you child during training as this disrupts the training environment and interferes with his/ her concentration and sense of independence. Our spectator policy is available here.

I am concerned my child wont want to train with children s/he doesn't know.

New students are usually shy at the beginning of the class. We have developed a very effective process of integration and even very shy children are almost always excited and engaged within moments of the class beginning.
