Ju Jitsu & Children
Ju Jitsu is the primary system we practise. Our black belt grades are recognised by the United Nations of Ju Jitsu (UNJJ) click here .
Historically, Ju Jitsu formed part of a samurai's (feudal Japanese knight) combat training. With the advent of modern warfare the masters of Ju Jitsu and other budo (traditional military methods) sought a new use for what they regarded as a beautiful system that reflected their spiritual values.
One such master, Jigoro Kano, founded Judo. Professor Kano sent emissaries around the world to promote his art. The emissary to Brazil taught the art to the now renowned Gracie family. The Gracies focused on the practical aspects of Kano's art and established what is now know as Brazilian Ju Jitsu (BJJ).
In the 90's The Gracies issued a highly publicised challenge to the martial arts world with the intention of finally deciding which was the most effective art.
The ease and grace with which the Royce Gracie defeated opponents many times his weight and size established Ju Jitsu as the premier martial art system.
