Training with another 'live' body
Many martial arts, such as Karate and Tai Chi focus on solo training, practising basics and forms in prearranged order. We are quite different.
Whilst there is a small but specific place for solo training the majority of the training experience is with a partner and this has benefits at multiple levels.
In terms of strength development, working with a live body develops a motility not developed from static exercises or even from exercise using weights.
In terms of social and personal development, constantly working with a partner stretches communication and negotiating skills as students work to find the right level of resistance and cooperation.
Of course on a practical level practising with a partner is much realistic and produces higher quality skill.
