Tai Chi & Children
Tai Chi Chuan (Tai Ji Quan) is a refined Chinese martial art and Yang style Tai Chi is famous in China for its health benefits for the elderly (younger energetic people usually practise the more dynamic Chen style).
Although children struggle with Tai Chi, as it is not in general, in accord with their developmental urges and interests, MAE is influenced by the Taoist philosophy that underlies Tai Chi and we have selected a handful of Tai Chi exercises that have proved valuable in developing physical balance, coordination and calmness in young students.
Children will develop strong foundations especially in terms of proprioception and orientation which may one day enhance their practice of Tai Chi.
